Since last year, the Taoyuan Industrial Development & Investment Promotion Committee (commonly known as the Taoyuan Industry Promotion Association) has launched a series of “Smart AI” promotional initiatives — including forums, sharing sessions, and company visits — to help local manufacturers grasp the latest trends in smart manufacturing and strengthen their innovation and transformation capabilities.
According to official statistics, Taoyuan is home to more than 10,000 factories, spanning industries such as aviation, electronics, machinery, food, and biotechnology. Under the leadership of Mayor Chang San-cheng, the city government is actively promoting the integration of intelligent technologies into industrial supply chains, supporting local enterprises in adapting to the accelerating wave of global digitalization.

Promoting AI-Driven Growth Through Industry Collaboration

Wang Chih-hung, Executive Director of the Taoyuan Industry Promotion Association, emphad:

“Mayor Chang has repeatedly stressed that industry is the cornerstone of Taoyuan’s development. In the face of global digital transformation, our mission — together with the city government — is to help businesses identify future directions, embrace innovation, and pursue transformation with confidence.”

Wang noted that when companies adopt AI and automation technologies, what they need most are replicable, real-world examples.

“Through visits to benchmark enterprises,” he added, “we want participants not only to see that ‘it can be done,’ but to believe that ‘we can do it too.’”

Learning from Leading Enterprises: From Traditional Manufacturing to Smart Factorie

On April 18, the association, in collaboration with the Taoyuan General Chamber of Commerce, led a delegation of over 60 business leaders and representatives to Changhua County to visit two leading examples of smart manufacturing: the Ribbon King Tourism Factory and Orisol Taiwan Ltd., - the visit showcased applications ranging from the digital transformation of traditional industries to high-end smart factory operations. Participants observed firsthand how enterprises implement intelligent production processes, automation management systems, and AI integration.

Through in-depth discussions, the delegation gained valuable insights into the challenges and solutions encountered during transformation and exchanged ideas that inspired cross-industry innovation and broader strategic thinking.

Building a Smarter, More Sustainable Future for Taoyuan Industry

The Taoyuan Industry Promotion Association plans to continue organizing smart manufacturing site visits, exploring topics such as sustainable business management and AI innovation in manufacturing.
These initiatives aim to provide practical references and inspiration for Taoyuan-based enterprises, helping them accelerate their journey toward intelligent manufacturing.

“We hope these visits are not just events, but actions that translate knowledge into real-world practice,” Wang said. “Looking ahead, the association will continue to connect resources across government, academia, and industry — hosting smart manufacturing forums, leadership summits, and other initiatives — to build a solid support platform for Taoyuan’s industrial upgrading.”

Through peer learning, practical observation, and cross-sector collaboration, Taoyuan is steadily advancing along the path of smart manufacturing transformation — setting a new benchmark for Taiwan’s industrial innovation.
