Smart IoT: Boosting Injection Molding Efficiency
Data-Driven Injection Molding: Enhancing Production Transparency and Efficiency via ORISOL PDCS
In response to the global manufacturing industry's shift toward intelligent and digital transformation, a traditional injection molding factory actively pursued innovative breakthroughs, aiming to enhance overall production efficiency and market competitiveness through the implementation of smart manufacturing technologies. Partnering with ORISOL, the factory launched a digital transformation project focused on integrating IoT data connectivity and smart monitoring into its injection molding machines, successfully transforming traditional processes into a data-driven smart manufacturing mode. At the initial stage of the project, the ORISOL technical team integrated the factory's existing injection molding machines into the ORISOL PDCS (Production Data Collection System). Through real-time data acquisition modules, the system collected key process information such as temperature, pressure, cycle time, and machine operating status, and built an intuitive production monitoring dashboard. The system featured a visualized interface that enabled management to easily view overall equipment performance, production progress, and OEE at a glance. Moreover, PDCS incorporated a mobile alert notification mechanism. When a machine malfunctioned or production was interrupted, relevant operators immediately received smart alarm messages via mobile devices or tablets, enabling them to act promptly and significantly reduce machine downtime and production defect rates. After the project implementation, the production transparency of the injection molding factory significantly improved. Management was able to make decisions and optimize production line scheduling based on actual data, and the overall OEE increased by 5.8%, which not only shortened the production cycle but also enhanced the real-time performance and accuracy of human-machine interaction. This case fully demonstrated ORISOL's professional capabilities in the field of manufacturing digitization. Through IoT data integration, real-time monitoring, and a smart alarm system, ORISOL collaborated with the factory to upgrade traditional processes into smart production, achieving data-driven high-efficiency management. In the future, ORISOL together with this factory customer planned to continue expanding the application scope, advancing toward full-plant smart manufacturing and energy management integration, and moving toward a higher-level smart factory vision.
